  • StephonGilmore

    FA Cornerback #21

Panthers GM Dan Morgan said the team will re-visit the possibility of signing free agent CB Stephon Gilmore after the draft.

Gilmore, 33, remains a free agent after playing one season with the Cowboys. The veteran corner played on 999 snaps for the Cowboys last season, earning a PFF coverage grade of 72.3 while allowing 50-653-4 to opposing pass-catchers. It was what we’ve come to expect from Gilmore in recent years, as he remains a serviceable No. 2 corner who is still capable of matching up with most receivers in the league. The market has been relatively quiet on Gilmore thus far, but we’d expect more teams to get in on signing him after the draft concludes and teams reassess their roster needs.

  • TroyFranklin

    CLG Wide Receiver

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports the Bills are hosting Oregon WR Troy Franklin for a visit.

Per Garafolo, Franklin has also visited the Browns, Jets, Panthers, and Patriots. Franklin posted elite numbers in his final season at Oregon, totaling 1,383 yards and 14 touches on 81 grabs. He led the Ducks in yards and touchdowns while playing alongside multiple NFL-caliber receivers. His stock took a tumble at the combine when he weighed in at 176 pounds and ran a 4.41-second 40-yard dash. For a player billed as a downfield burner, his straight-line speed was underwhelming. Though he doesn’t project to be a target dominator in the NFL, the Bills are dangerously thin at receiver and Franklin would step into a prominent role in the offense out of the gates. Buffalo is one of the premier fantasy landing spots for rookie receivers this year.

  • Panthers signed DT Derrick Brown to a four-year, $96 million contract extension.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Brown — who had one year remaining on his contract — will get around $63 million in guarantees with the new deal. The seventh overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Brown, 25, set an NFL record for defensive lineman with 103 tackles in 2023; his missed tackle rate was among the league’s lowest among defensive linemen. He has functioned as a run stuffer in the Carolina defense. Pro Football Focus graded Brown as last year’s No. 2 defensive lineman behind Quinnen Williams.

  • LaviskaShenault

    SEA Wide Receiver #15

Seahawks are signing WR Laviska Shenault, formerly of the Panthers.

Since entering the league in 2020, Shenault has been a multi-purpose receiver and special teamer. His best receiving season came in 2021, getting 100 targets for 63 receptions and 619 receiving yards with the Jaguars. He has also rushed for 252 yards in four seasons. Shenault returned kicks for the Panthers last season, totaling six returns for 167 yards. He joins a loaded Seahawks receiving corps, likely adding a rushing component to the wideout group. Shenault could also return kicks for the Seahawks under the new kickoff rules.

  • RaheemBlackshear

    CAR Running Back #3

Panthers re-signed RB Raheem Blackshear to a one-year, $985,000 contract.

Blackshear was an exclusive rights free agent, so this was the only game in town. He saw 20 touches last season after that number was 33 in 2022. He’s a deep reserve who needs to maintain a role as a core special teamer.

  • JadeveonClowney

    CAR Linebacker #24

Panthers signed EDGE Jadeveon Clowney, formerly of the Ravens, to a two-year, $20 million contract.

Ian Rapoport was first with the scoop and Adam Schefter later added the contract details. Clowney most recently played in Baltimore, racking up 9.5 sacks and nine TFLs in his only season as a Raven. Now a mercenary, Clowney has played for four different teams in five years since finishing out his rookie contract with the Texans. Even at 31 years old, Clowney is still a top-end pass-rusher. He will join a Carolina front seven looking to retool after a disappointing 2023 campaign.

  • SamFranklin

    CAR Safety #42

    Panthers re-signed S Sam Franklin to a one-year contract.

Franklin was brought back on a one-year deal last offseason after primarily playing special teams in 2022. Though he remained a special teams ace in 2023, Franklin also set a career-high in defensive snaps at 289. That, in turn, led to a high-water mark in tackles (30) as well. Franklin’s breakout season even involved a 99-yard pick-six against the Vikings in Week 4.

  • JadeveonClowney

    FA Linebacker #24

Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reports the Jets are “highly motivated” to sign free agent EDGE Jadeveon Clowney.

According to Schultz, the Panthers and Ravens also remain interested in Clowney, who tied a career high with 9.5 sacks in his first season with the Ravens. Schultz says the Jets and Clowney “have remained in constant contact” since their first meeting, which could indicate signing is coming any day now. Still, we’d expect money to play a big factor in where he signs when you consider the fact that the Panthers are still on the table.

  • NickScott

    CAR Safety #33

Panthers signed S Nick Scott, formerly of the Bengals.

Scott was released by the Bengals in a cap-saving move back in mid-March. The former seventh-round pick played in 17 games for the Bengals last season while making 10 starts. He totaled 57 tackles and one fumble recovery in those games and has started in 27 of the 81 games he’s appeared in for his career. Scott can step in to start when needed, but will likely serve as more of a depth signing for the Panthers.

  • KamuGrugier-Hill

    CAR Linebacker #54

Vikings signed LB Kamu Grugier-Hill, formerly of the Panthers.

Grugier-Hill appeared in all 17 games for the Panthers in 2023 and was credited with five starts. He logged one interception, one sack, and a pair of TFLs. Grugier-Hill was also a key special teamer in Carolina, logging 297 special teams snaps last year. The journeyman linebacker will turn 30 before the start of the season but is still a serviceable backup and spot-starter when needed.
