This latest Powerball prize is one for the record books, behind only a $2.04 billion jackpot won in California in November 2022. If someone matches all six numbers tomorrow night, they’ll have the choice to receive their dough payed out over time or as a lump sum payment of $756.6 million before taxes. But it won’t be easy. The odds of hitting the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.

But just two years after winning, Shakespeare went missing and was eventually found shot to death. Dee Dee Moore was convicted in 2012 of killing Shakespeare and stealing his winnings.

Sharp, who came to collect his prize with his wife and his girlfriend, admitted to the New York Post that he spent most of his winnings on drugs, alcohol and gambling. He also made a $15,000 donation to victims of famine in Ethiopia. “It came in, it went out,” Sharp said.
